Greetings from Sabourin Lake Lodge!

We want to thank all of our guests who return year after year and all the new guests who joined us for the first time in 2023.

This past summer marked a welcome change as we enjoyed a season unmarred by forest fires. Although there were a few days with smoke, none of the fires threatened the lodge. We are incredibly grateful for this respite, considering the significant fires that affected many parts of Canada.

When we opened in May, we encountered the lowest water levels we've seen in years due to reduced snowfall and rainfall. This meant we could not access Musclow Lake this season. We’re committed to preparing the portage and ensuring the boats are ready for our fishermen on the other side in 2024. Let’s hope Mother Nature cooperates.

The fishing excelled all summer, surpassing our expectations to the point that we ran out of our prized trophy pins by mid-August. We sincerely apologize for this and thank you for your patience. Rest assured, we’ll have more pins available for the upcoming season, including our Gold Grand Slam and Silver Triple Crown pins.

Since Fred and Susan’s retirement, the Williams family was a constant presence at the lodge throughout the summer. Rhys took charge as our cabin and dock hand, from delivering your morning coffee to preparing shore lunch pails and handling numerous other duties. John, Donna, and Claudia helped make the season a success, and Claudia will continue to do so in the coming season. Ron and Shirley’s legacy continues to thrive.

Our dining experience was elevated by our incredible chef, Saksay, who crafted remarkable meals all summer. Guests praised the ribs, likening them to the best they’ve ever had, and some even deemed our offerings superior to restaurants in New York and beyond. Thank you, Saksay, for your tireless dedication and exceptional work.

Looking ahead to the summer of 2024, we’re excited to announce plans to:

  • Replace all the doors and windows in the cabins and main lodge

  • Upgrade all kitchen counters to stainless steel

  • Expand our fleet with new boat seats and a few new motors

  • We have also refurbished the pontoon boat, and it will be available for evening fishing and sunset cruises.

Claudia Williams is managing all reservations and is eager to assist in planning your next fishing trip. While some summer slots are still available, we'll do our utmost to accommodate your preferences.

We can’t wait to welcome you next season!
